Isn’t it funny how the brain works? When you see something and you initially don't warm to it, then a few moments later think – actually that’s pretty cool. And maybe even grow to absolutely love it! After Issue #1 of this newsletter, website designer Tom Garfield kindly messaged me to say he often gets compliments on the font he uses for his social media posts. His branding was created by graphic designer Bhavini Lakhani using the font Bely. Tom says, "When I first saw the concept, I really wasn't sure about it. But I trusted Bhavini, and so I sat with it for a while, mocked up some stuff, and let it settle in my mind. Now I absolutely adore it. I would never have picked it for myself, but I think it's perfect for my business now. It has little points of interest that I didn't notice at first glance - the lower case y is a great example of that". See that, brilliant Bhavini knew. That’s how I felt when I saw the numbers on the back of the Euro shirts of the Women’s English football team. I thought why have they got a weird gothic font as their numbers? But I started checking out all the numbers and I kinda liked the quirkiness of the kinks in them. So, still riding high on their amazing win, this Font Love is dedicated to the numbers on the Women’s UEFA Euro 2022 champions’ football kit.
